JD Strum – Drew Bentley Songs Drew Bentley Songs
Very nice work Drew and many thanks for sharing a bit of history and some great music…I wish you continued success in all your endeavors. You are extremely gifted guitarist and writer…I like your style and the nice, clean production of what I’ve thus far, (2) songs…Well done my friend!!! Brent Rhodes
Hey Brent, your welcome! I appreciate the kind words. I’m glad that you are enjoying the production. Editing (me) and mixing ( final mix was done by Sean McDonald out of Pittsburgh) can be pretty daunting. lol I had Dave Collins ( Sound Garden, Super Unknown, Police Synchronicity, Jurrasic Park to name a few) do the mastering. I’m really pleased with the outcome.
Thanks again and all the best,
Drew
as you know I am not a guitarist but a keyboard player. My influences over the years have run from Elton John, Billy Joel, Michael W Smith, and David Meece (all piano players) to Geoff Downes (Asia, Yes, the Buggles), Mike Pinder (Moody Blues), Steve Porcaro (Toto), David Paich (If I could play like any one person it would be this guy!) and Jim Gilmour (SAGA). Notable omissions would be Keith Emerson, Rich Wakeman, Jordan Rudess, Derek Sherinian, etc. The reality is that these guys play in a style that is just a tad outside my personal style. Not that there isn’t something to be gleaned from them, I would rather spend my time studying the lines of the above-mentioned players, and getting to know why they do the parts they do. Just my $0.02
id have to say Van halen, Duane Allman, Hendrix, Vai, Zakk Wylde had to push me to learn music. I remember being very angry and struggling with things in college and I Learned Zakk Wylde book of shadows 1 in a week didnt care what else was going on.
A lot of the guys you mentioned. Those you didn’t include:
Duke Levine
Matt Rae
Bill Frisell
Kenny Burell
Wes
Having read this I thought it was very informative.
I appreciate you spending some time and effort to put this information together.
I once again find myself personally spending a lot of time both reading

Can I simply just say what a relief to find an individual who really knows what they are talking
about on the web. You certainly understand how to bring an issue to light and make
it important. More people must check this out and understand this side of the story.
It’s surprising you’re not more popular since you definitely possess
